JEANNIE MATZA PEDERSEN, AAMS®

Jeannie has worked with individuals and families to grow and preserve their wealth for over 20 years. She particularly enjoys creating personalized financial plans with a focus on legacy, charitable planning and tax minimization. Acting as a fiduciary, she always puts the interests of her clients ahead of her own.
Jeannie is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, with a degree in Financial Economics. She also holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation from the College of Financial Planning. Jeannie began her career at Charles Schwab, quickly advancing to the role of Investment Specialist. After leaving Charles Schwab, Jeannie worked for Chinook Capital Management as a portfolio manager. She helped to establish Worldview Wealth Advisors (formerly Maxim Global Wealth Advisors) where she acted both as Operations Manager and Portfolio Manager, as well as a member of the firm’s investment committee. In 2012, Jeannie joined Empirical Wealth Management where she worked as a Financial Advisor.
Jeannie is a native of Portland, Oregon, where she currently resides with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys travelling as well as all things home related, including cooking, entertaining, and décor.
PAUL VERMILYA

Paul founded Compass Investment Advisers in 2004 with one simple premise – to always put the clients’ interests first. That conviction continues to drive the firm to this day.
Paul graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.S. in Finance and began his career as a financial consultant in 1982 at Merrill Lynch. Subsequently he joined First Interstate Bank’s Investment Division, managing portfolios for individuals and corporations, with a special emphasis on fixed income needs. He then joined Charles Schwab and Company, as branch retirement plans coordinator and fixed income specialist. Before founding Compass in 2004, he was a principal and portfolio manager at Western Pacific Investment Advisers.
Paul is a native Oregonian and resides in Portland with his wife and two children. He enjoys hiking, photography and white water rafting. He serves on the board and is the current treasurer of the Oregon Whitewater Association.
